The Health Promoting University: opportunities, challenges and future developments.

This paper aims to:  outline the conceptual framework developed for the Health Promoting University initiative at the University of Central Lancashire;  describe and illustrate the work carried out within the initiative;  explore some of the challenges and opportunities involved in developing the Health Promoting University approach, both within the organisation and in the context of inter-sectoral working;  outline future developments, including the work of the newly established Healthy Settings Development Unit and explore its potential to support collaborative working and contribute to sustainable public health.
